Tips for Acing AEIS

aeis preparation

The Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) is conducted by the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) for students who are not Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents wishing to be enrolled in primary or secondary schools in Singapore.

The exercise is open to all international students aged 7 and above, and is conducted yearly in September or October. The Supplementary AEIS or S-AEIS is conducted in February for students hoping to be admitted in the same academic year.

The results of the AEIS will be released about 3-4 weeks after the test date, and successful applicants will be required to enroll in the school of their choice within 2 weeks from the date of release of results.

The AEIS consists of tests in English and Math. The test is challenging for students from a non-English speaking background, but is necessary to ensure that incoming international students are of a similar standard to Singapore students.

There is a small change to the AEIS tests effective 2023. For international students applying to Primary Schools,

  • From the 2022 AEIS, there is no longer the English test for international students seeking admission into primary schools. International students must take the relevant Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test run by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE), and meet or exceed the required scores before they register for the AEIS-Primary Mathematics test.
  • There is no change in format for the AEIS-Secondary tests. International students will continue to take the AEIS English & Math tests

Navigating the Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) can be a daunting task. However, with the right preparation, it is possible to ace the tests and get into a Singapore Public School. AEIS Preparation courses are available to help students prepare for the tests.

It is common for most international students to take the AEIS Preparation Course conducted by AEIS Specialist Tutors for about 3 or 6 months prior to the test dates. These Specialist Tutors are the Best Private Tutor Singapore & are very familiar with the local education system. You can engage from a Private Tuition Agency Singapore. The AEIS Preparation Course is conducted as Home Tuition Singapore for students already in Singapore. The Online AEIS Course is conducted for students still in their home countries,
